hey guys was wondering what you prefer a shemagh or a bandanna i like the shemagh their bigger have little cotton tassles thats great for making char let me know
Don't have a shemagh. Got a whole mess of camo bandanas I picked up at Hobby Lobby in different colors, and patterns. If you're wearing/carrying a bandana you're just an old f**t. If you're wearing/carrying a shemagh you're a "suspect".
Bandanas I mainly use as rags in the field or as wraps to put around other gear to protect it. On my "cold night at the Grand Canyon" trip I had nothing to sit on around my fire pit. I gathered a few armloads of pine needles girard perregaux and folded my shemagh in half and laid that on top and sat on it. Made for a nice comfortable seat. But my shemagh also got me killed. I was playing in an airsoft battle and I got separated from my squad. I started taking fire and I ran for cover but my shemagh got snagged on a branch and it spun me as I tried to get it loose from around my neck. I then got shot in the arm and had to go respawn.

I own several shemaghs and used them often in Afghanistan, however for outdoors recreational use, I prefer silk bandanas. They are lighter, dry faster and serve many of the same needs with reduced bulk. If I was in more hot/arid temperatures I would strongly recommend having one as they are very effective in some roles such as protecting against blown sand, wind, extra insulation and being cotton, they dry relatively quickly and acts as a good air-conditioner when wet. Cotton does give the additional benefit for use as char cloth. ROCK6
Hands down the Shemagh it's so much larger is more breathable finer material. If you have a real one. It has so many uses it's like a swiss army knife.
First and foremost , I don't have a problem with the function of the shemaghs, notable and practical .However they about as american as chop sticks. Not that I would personally make such generalizations but post SHTF, some scared out his mind redneck girard perregaux might just assume, that what looks like an enemy arab Muslim , @ 500 yards, to him, is one. I realize not all Muslim are enemy, but if you wear the same uniform one's claims to the contrary it is very hard to prove. girard perregaux While it is not the whole uniform, what is it you see first, at a distance. If you wear a blue helmet , whom is it you are representing? Food for thought.

I wear it all the time here in the mountains of West Virginia and if you can get way with it with these hillbillies then you can wear it anywhere.

Perhaps. shemagh IS a bandana, just big enough girard perregaux to actually be useful!
I like shemaghs, however bandannas have their place, after all one of DC's Cs is a cotton bandanna. however the pros of a shemagh- larger and thicker than a bandanna can be used as a triangle bandage[Ive used it as such] makes a decent pillow if filled with foliage can be made into a rather large bag Theres plenty more, but those are the things Ive used it for.
